2021 Fashion Trends – Blazer & Jeans

Blazers are among this year’s hottest 2021 fashion trends. In particular, double-breasted blazers have made a comeback in a 1980s retro meets 2021 high fashion kind of way. This post features a plaid blazer and jeans style that I love in two different price ranges to fit your budget.

We don’t all have the same amount of money for clothes and fashion trends in our budgets, and I respect that. I personally picked the Amazon version below for this photo. In addition, I’ve also included some higher end pieces from J. McLaughlin for those of you who may be interested in investment pieces.

How to Get the Look on Amazon

Blazer

This LookBookStore Women’s Casual Plaid Blazer is lightweight and perfect for warm climates. The blazer features a notched lapel and has two functional front pockets (#hatefakepockets). Even though it’s double breasted, it’s still seems slightly fitted when you put it on, which looks great!

Jeans

These Levi’s Women’s 311 Shaping Skinny Jeans are just about the most versatile and comfortable pair of skinny jeans I’ve ever owned. I also own a pair in black. I’m excited that I’ll be able to wear them in so many different ways and you really can’t beat the price!

Loafers

If you’ve read my posts, you know I’m always trying to balance comfort with style when choosing shoes (See my recent post about How to Keep Wearing High Heeled Shoes Comfortably After 40 for more about this). I recently discovered that Dr. Scholl’s makes a line of ridiculously comfortable shoes that are also quite stylish. Hard to believe, I know. But you won’t regret giving them a try. This Dr. Scholl’s Esta Loafer is my second pair.

T-shirt

This look is extremely flexible. It’s polished yet casual and could be worn on the weekend or to work on Casual Friday. I paired this with a comfortable slim-fitting white t-shirt but you could just as easily wear a tank or a button up shirt with this.

Other Ways to Wear the Plaid Blazer

If you’d like to dress this look up a little more, you could add nude pumps and a white camisole. These Naturalizer Anna Pumps are timeless and come in narrow and wide sizes as well to ensure a perfect fit. And, of course, the Naturalizer brand features an innovative cushioning system designed to optimize comfort. This dressy camisole tank is a best seller on Amazon and it comes in over 30 colors!

How to Get the Look on J. McLaughlin

Blazer

Aubrey Blazer By J. McLaughlinThis blazer by J. McLaughlin is more of a classic look than the trendy double-breasted blazer from the LookBookStyle store above. However, this is more of an investment piece that will always work and and will never go out of style. This blazer is 40% off at the moment (1/29/21), so check it out soon!

Jeans

Lexi Jeans by J. McLaughlinYou can’t go wrong with the quality and classic styling of J. McLaughlin. These Lexi Jeans are made of 4-way stretch that looks like a perfect fit pair of skinny jeans with the comfort of your favorite leggings.

Turtleneck

Turtleneck by J. McLaughlinI wore my blazer in the photo with a fitted t-shirt. You could also try it with this slim Nora Turtleneck in off white. This beautiful sweater is very thin and made from stretch microfiber that fits like a glove. Turtlenecks are popular this season, so you’ll get a lot of use out of this one.

Shoes

I would wear the J. McLaughlin outfit with the Naturalizer Anna Pumps in a nude color. The classic design of these pumps goes perfectly with the understated styling of the J. McLaughlin line.

Another shoe option is this fantastic new brand I recently found called Calla. Calla shoes are made specifically for ladies with bunions, which means they are super comfortable even if you don’t have bunions. Take a look at the beautiful pumps and flats available at Calla (ad below).
