I’m always looking for new beauty products to help me feel and look my best. If you’re over 50 like me, you’ll remember a time when the types of beauty products that were available were more limited. I love seeing all the new products that come out and learning about all the things we can do now that didn’t used to be possible. In this post, I’ll share some of my favorite beauty products of 2021. These are all products that I personally use and love. This post will start out small, but check back often because I plan to update this post regularly throughout the year!

This is, without a doubt, my favorite new hair product of the year. I don’t know when Revlon started making these, but it’s new to me and I absolutely love it. My hair is wavy and a little frizzy naturally, but not when I use this. The bristles don’t get stuck in my hair like a traditional round brush, and the end result is smooth and sleek. The brush has three heat settings and it doesn’t burn your hands when you touch it. Get yours today, I know you’ll love it as much as I do.
City Lips is a plumping lip product that comes in either gloss or creme (matte finish). City Lips is by far my favorite lip product on the market. It’s long lasting and loaded with moisture-rich products such as hyaluronic Acid, conditioning extracts and collagen-supporting peptides. The products also have a slight plumping effect that lasts for a couple of hours. The plumping is not weird looking, just an attractive little boost for your lips. City Lips clear gloss is their most popular product but I personally like the matte products the best. Give City Lips a try, I think you’ll agree that it’s one of the best beauty products available!
This lip crayon is amazing! The product is full of antioxidant and moisture rich ingredients such as Coconut Oil, Murumuru Butter and Shea Butter. Honest Beauty is not a luxury brand, but you can count on it being healthy, great for you and free of nasty ingredients like Paraben or Silicone. Because of it’s rich moisturizing ingredients, this lip crayon is a little soft in texture. So, I like to apply it with a lip brush. Honest Beauty Lip Crayon lasts for several hours and comes in eight lovely colors. The price is right, what do you have to lose?
This lip balm costs less than ten bucks! I like to use it right before I go to bed. The nourishing ingredients and Hyaluronic Acid work on my lips overnight and I wake up to soft, smooth lips. I’ve also used this a few times as a primer under a more traditional lipstick. Put this lip balm in your Amazon cart, it’s worth it!
NIRA Skincare Laser
I’m so excited about my NIRA Skincare Laser! Use my link and Coupon Code OWH10 and you’ll receive 10% Off anything that’s not already discounted. Ladies, this is an at-home skincare laser that reduces wrinkles and fine lines around your eyes. I’ve had mine for about two months and I can definitely see a difference. Even though the laser is supposed to take 90 days to show substantial results, I can already see that the bags under my eyes are greatly reduced. I plan to keep using this beauty product. I’m also hopeful that this is just the beginning of laser devices that you can use at home.
If you’ve tried products by IT Cosmetics before, then you know they are amazing! I particularly like their Confidence in a Cream Moisturizer. Touted by IT Cosmetics as “The #1 Moisturizer in America,” this quick-absorbing cream helps strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier and provides 24-hour hydration. I usually wear this to bed at night. However, I’ve also used it under my makeup in cold weather and it worked beautifully. Full of anti-aging ingredients, Confidence in a Cream moisturizes, reduces the look of wrinkles, smooths skin, evens skin tone, minimizes pores and generally just gives you glowing gorgeous skin. If I had to choose just one moisturizer, this would be the one.
Elta MD UV Clear facial sunscreen is one of the best on the market and it is designed for acne-prone skin. Mineral-based Zinc Oxide formula provides the ultimate protection and it’s oil-free formula goes on smooth and light without irritating skin. I use this every day under my makeup.
Under Eye Recovery
Under Eye Recovery by City Beauty brightens and blurs the appearance of dark circles under the eyes while also helping to prevent wrinkles and fine lines. Give this a try, you’ll love it!
Eyebrows are an important part of your beauty regimen. And, ladies over 40 take note, eyebrow styles have changed. Gone are the days when thin high brows were the standard. Instead, a thick, sculpted brow is the way to go. Brow Zings by Benefit is my go to solution. First, you brush on a waxy substance followed by a powered applied on top. Your brows will be perfect all day long!
Thrive Causemetics makes an AMAZING mascara called Liquid Lash Extensions. I can visibly see longer, thicker lashes when I use it. The product never smears and lasts all day. Best of all, Thrive Causemetics stands for something we can all get behind. For every product purchased, the company makes a donation to a charity organization that helps women to thrive. In addition, their products are vegan and 100% cruelty-free.
Let’s face it, we all have a little something or other about our skin that we’d like to correct. I struggle with redness in various areas on my face. For years I’ve used this 4-in-1 Correcting Primer by PUR. It goes on silky smooth and helps my makeup look better all while helping to conceal some of the redness in my skin. I usually mix a little of this in with my sunscreen, but it also works beautifully applied directly to my skin prior to foundation or CC Cream. For those of you who don’t struggle with redness, the primer also comes in other formulas including Anti-Blemish Mattifying Acne Treatment, Dark Spot Corrector, Energize and Rescue, Hydrate & Balance, and Prep & Perfect.
Zo Skin Health is a medical grade skincare line designed by Dr. Zein Obagi. Their Exfoliation Accelerator is an amazing product that I’ve used for a couple of years. I apply it two to three times a week before I go to bed. The result is smooth, soft, unblemished skin. The product provides exfoliation of dead skin cells helping to increase cell regeneration as well as antioxidants to prevent future damage. This is a bit pricey, but it lasts a very long time and is worth the investment.
I use coconut oil for many purposes. Most notably, I think it makes a great lip primer! Just apply coconut oil before you apply your other lip products. Your lips will be beautiful and moist and your products will go on smoothly. I also like to use a bit of coconut oil under my concealer. This softens the concealer a bit so it goes on more smoothly and doesn’t settle as much in the fine lines around your eyes. Try this trick, you’ll love it!
This inexpensive drugstore lip crayon by Maybelline is amazing! It’s inexpensive, goes on lightly and lasts all day! For flawless matte finish lips, I apply a light layer of coconut oil to my lips. I follow that with lip liner applied all over the lips and this lip crayon. Perfect! It even holds up under a mask!
