Welcome to installment two in my series – Social Media Beauty Hacks, Real or Fake? This post will explore a DIY beauty treatment commonly seen on the social media – how to use a Listerine Foot Soak to soften calloused feet.
If I am being honest, I will admit that I often click on ridiculous social media beauty posts. “How to Lose 40 Pounds by Drinking This One Thing Every Night.” I clicked on that. I want to know what that secret nighttime drink is! (I never did find out by the way. The resulting page seemed very spammy very fast, so I clicked off of it). That’s why I started this social media beauty hack series to debunk the myths. I test these things out so you don’t have to!

Since the COVID-19 Pandemic began, I have been a little afraid to go to the nail salon for a pedicure. Something about sitting in an enclosed space with a large number of other people for an hour or more just didn’t feel like the right thing to do. So, I was looking for tips on keeping my feet pretty, polished and soft when I ran across this beauty tip.
Social Media Beauty Tip – How to Use Listerine to Soften Calloused Feet
Recipe for DIY Listerine Pedicure Soak
- Large bowl, tub or foot bath filled halfway with warm water
- 1 cup of Original Listerine (any flavor)
- ½ cup of Apple Cider Vinegar
How to Use DIY Listerine Foot Soak
- Soak your feet for 20 minutes
- Dry with towel
- Scrub your feet the next day in the shower with a pumice stone
This beauty hack worked quite well. While not the miracle cure some bloggers promoted, I did find that the Listerine and Apple Cider Vinegar Foot Soak softened my feet all over and made it easier to scrub the dry rough skin off the next day. Ladies, this worked well enough that I will do it again. Although I may add other, more traditional foot treatments afterwards, such as an overnight moisturizing cream, to finish out the treatment.
